For more than four decades, Futureworld Orchestra has existed far beyond the boundaries of a traditional music project.
What started in a small Dutch village as a fascination with sound, synthesisers and imagination slowly evolved into a lifelong creative mission — one that continues to expand to this very day.
This is not merely the story of albums and releases.
It is the story of a creator who never stopped building worlds.
Robert Pot grew up in the quiet countryside of the Netherlands, where his imagination was captured at an early age by the majestic sounds of symphonic rock. Legendary artists and bands such as Genesis, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Camel and Asia opened the door to a universe where music could become cinematic, emotional and limitless.
At the age of sixteen, Robert obtained his very first keyboard — an organ built by a neighbour. As an electronics student, he immediately began modifying the instrument, experimenting with circuits and shaping completely new sounds.
Long before digital music production became mainstream, Robert already sensed that synthesisers would fundamentally change the future of music creation.
To finance his dream, he delivered newspapers, worked as a DJ in local discotheques and invested every possible guilder into new synthesisers, recording equipment and studio technology.
What started as a bedroom experiment slowly transformed into a professional recording environment.
And eventually…
Futureworld Orchestra was born.
Co-founded in 1980 by Robert Pot, Futureworld Orchestra quickly became one of the pioneering Dutch synthesiser projects of the early eighties.
Their breakthrough single:
“Desire”
immediately gained international attention and was followed by releases such as:
- I’m Not Afraid of the Future
- Theme from E.T.
- Roulette
- Don’t Go
- S.O.S. Here My Call
The music spread across Europe and became especially successful in countries such as Spain and Italy.
At a time when synthesiser music still felt futuristic and mysterious, Futureworld Orchestra created melodic electronic music that combined:
- emotion
- atmosphere
- cinematic scope
- and progressive influences.
Although Futureworld Orchestra became known through its albums and singles, Robert’s creative activities expanded far beyond commercial releases.
Over the years he produced:
- leader music for television productions
- atmospheric soundscapes
- cinematic storytelling audio
- music for audiovisual productions
- background experiences for theme parks
- soundtrack-oriented productions
- library music for international usage
- and countless commissioned works across multiple media formats.
His productions and compositions eventually found their way into:
- television
- film-related productions
- commercials
- multimedia installations
- and international music libraries such as:
- Pond5
- AudioSparx
- and many others.
The common thread throughout all these productions remained unmistakable:
atmosphere.
Whether composing electronic pop, cinematic sound design or immersive ambient worlds, Robert always approached music as:
emotional storytelling.
Unlike many artists, Robert rarely pursued the traditional spotlight of live performance.
The studio itself became his universe.
A place where:
- stories could emerge,
- worlds could be imagined,
- and emotions could become sound.
Throughout decades of technological evolution — from analogue synthesisers and tape machines to modern digital production — Robert continuously adapted, evolved and experimented.
Not to follow trends.
But to continue expanding the possibilities of imagination.
Over time, the music of Futureworld Orchestra became increasingly cinematic.
Projects such as:
- Hidden Files
- Regenerated
- Oceans of Infinity
- Pictures at an Exhibition
revealed a creator fascinated not only by songs, but by:
- atmosphere,
- worlds,
- visuals,
- emotional landscapes,
- and immersive experiences.
This evolution eventually led toward something much larger.
Not simply another album.
But a complete creative universe.
In recent years, decades of musical experience, visual imagination and storytelling gradually converged into a new vision:
Intergalactic Transit Authority
A cinematic and immersive universe where:
- music,
- storytelling,
- science fiction,
- visual design,
- atmosphere,
- emotion,
- and futuristic imagination
all become interconnected.
The project represents the culmination of a lifetime of creation.
Not a nostalgic return to the past —
but the beginning of an entirely new era.
At a time when artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the creative world, Futureworld Orchestra embraces technology as a powerful tool — while remaining deeply committed to one essential principle:
human imagination comes first.
Every world, transmission, atmosphere and emotional layer within FWO originates from a real creator with decades of experience, passion and artistic dedication behind him.
That human authenticity has become more valuable than ever.
More Than Music
Futureworld Orchestra was never merely about songs.
It has always been about:
- imagination,
- atmosphere,
- wonder,
- emotional resonance,
- and the belief that music can transport people into entirely new realities.
After more than forty years of continuous creation…
the transmissions are only just beginning.
